Peppermint Bay

Peppermint Bay in Spinningfields is a new deli style café, rifting on a cool, continental theme which brings together the zesty flavours of the New World with la dolce vita - a stylish option for those looking to eat in or take out.

The Aussie heritage and travels through continental Europe of Tim Bacon (Living Ventures Managing Director) have inspired the menu.  Offering snacks and meals for busy schedules including Turkish flatbreads, salads, sushi and an array  of other temptations include heavenly, home-made, jammy dodgers - everything is fresh from field to fork!  Choose from French or Italian coffee, a range of quality hot chocolates, alongside a select choice of champagne and wine.

Taking its name from a secluded bay in Hobart, Tasmania, the licensed venue will serve some of the finest made-to-order café food in Manchester from a spectacular food counter.  With inside seating for 70 under floor-to-ceiling panes while a slate terrace can accommodate more than 200 guests outside – let's roll on summer!

Decked in fresh blue-greens, zinc greys and lemony whites, chessboard tiled floor, low-slung blown-glass lanterns and monochrome rubber special boards give Peppermint Bay its contemporary allure. Tim says: "I like the cleanness and freshness of the outdoor seating area that we pioneered at Alchemist and the colour scheme is fresh and contemporary.  I'm hugely inspired by modern European café bars."
He adds: "As a company, Living Ventures like to do new things and I've always had the intention of doing a deli - coffee shop. This is our take on it, and it's central and easy to use. We're hoping that with Alchemist, Australasia, and now the Oast House, it will create a draw – a walk-through with a range of dining options for people coming from Deansgate and beyond."

Tim is well known for his unique, hand-crafted projects and two and a half years ago, Michael Ingall of Allied London asked Tim if he would be interested in working in the area - a suggestion which has resulted in a thriving partnership. Living Ventures followed the landmark opening of The Alchemist bar in 2010 with Antipodean casual fine dining concept, Australasia.  The Oast House pub opened late October while Peppermint Bay, set to open early November, sees Living Ventures further contributing to the success of the city centre development.
Sheltered from the bustle of Deansgate yet nestled in the heart of Spinningfields – Peppermint Bay is an urban retreat that looks good enough to eat! www.peppermintbay.uk.com
